Welcome! We are proud to be a part of your child’s literacy and learning experiences. We offer a variety of materials, programs and services for children from birth through grade 6. We strive to encourage and enhance a life-long love of reading and learning. We hope you’ll spend some time browsing our links and reading about all that we have to offer. Upcoming Events

Preschool Art Show

Who: All ages
When: Wednesday, March 1 through Friday, March 31, 2017
Place: Children's Department

It's March and, once again, Welles-Turner Memorial Library is hosting the Preschool Art Show in the Children's Department. This is the twenty-ninth year of this popular exhibit of artworks from Glastonbury's day care centers and homes, preschools and nursery schools. The children's creativity is on display - from penguins to storybook characters to ice paintings. It is always a joy to see! The exhibit runs from March 1 through March 31. Come and have a look - you won't be disappointed!

Who: Children ages 3-5
When: Mondays from January 23 through February 27, 2017
Time: 1:30-2:15pm
Place: Children's Story Room

This 30-minute drop-in program is offered for children ages 3-5 who are not able to attend the registered session in the morning. Children will enjoy stories, rhymes, flannel board activities and songs that develop pre-reading skills. Children should be comfortable attending without an adult. No registration required.


Children Reading at BedtimeBedtime Stories

Who: Families with children ages 6 & under
When: Wednesdays from January 25 through March 1, 2017
Time: 6:30-7pm
Place: Children's Story Room

Put on your PJ’s, grab your teddy bear and settle down for a half-hour of stories. No registration needed. March 1 theme: Our Green Earth


Tinkerlab Light BulbTinkerlab

Who: Children and their adults
When: Friday, February 24, 2017
Time: 10:30am-12noon
Place: Children's Story Room

A place to learn, play, create and explore! Adults must stay and participate with their children. These are drop-in programs ~ no registration is needed.

When: Saturday, February 25, 2017
Time: 9:30am-12:30pm
Place: Library's Friends Room

Mark your calendar: The Friends' popular Kids' Book Sale is Saturday, February 25 from 9:30am-12:30pm in the Friends Room. They have more than fifty boxes of books DVDs, puzzles and games. Hardcover books are one dollar, paperbacks fifty cents, and DVDs three dollars, unless marked otherwise. Please bring your own bags. The Friends welcome donations. Come to a family storytime of Seuss-filled fun to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. It's OK if you don't like green eggs and ham ~ cake will be served instead! And join Dr. Seuss fans across the United States for "Read Across America." No registration needed.

Join us for some building fun! Creative kids will listen to a story and be challenged to design their own creation based on the selected theme. Plenty of LEGO® building bricks will be provided. Registration begins March 2 for residents; March 10 for nonresidents.

Who: Families with children age 6 & under
When: Saturday, March 18, 2017
Time: 10-10:30am

Enjoy a family-oriented, drop-in storytime that is fun for the whole family. This program is offered the third Saturday of each month through May 2017. No registration required ~ drop in!
