Welcome! We are proud to be a part of your child’s literacy and learning experiences. We offer a variety of materials, programs and services for children from birth through grade 6. We strive to encourage and enhance a life-long love of reading and learning. We hope you’ll spend some time browsing our links and reading about all that we have to offer. It's March and, once again, Welles-Turner Memorial Library is hosting the Preschool Art Show in the Children's Department. This is the twenty-ninth year of this popular exhibit of artworks from Glastonbury's day care centers and homes, preschools and nursery schools. The children's creativity is on display - from penguins to storybook characters to ice paintings. It is always a joy to see! The exhibit runs from March 1 through March 31. Come and have a look - you won't be disappointed!

A place to learn, play, create and explore! Adults must stay and participate with their children. These are drop-in programs ~ no registration is needed.

Magic and mayhem are part of the game as Danny Magic performs a multitude of tricks. Come see what Danny has up his sleeve! No registration is needed.

BEACH PARTY from 9:30-10:15am for children in grades K-6

Enjoy a taste of the tropics here at the library. Wear shorts, T-shirts and sunglasses (or Hawaiian gear), and the library will provide the beach balls, limbo stick and music. No registration is needed.

Film ReelMOVIE from 10:15am-12noon for families ~ all ages

Bring your beach towel and pick a patch of “sand” to enjoy a mythic adventure that takes place in the South Pacific when a girl meets a once-mighty demi-god and, together, they sail the ocean. Rated PG; 107 min. No registration is needed.

When: Wednesday, April 12, 2017
Time: 2:30-3:30pm
Place: Friends Room

Test your skills as you compete in a variety of tasty events, all involving some type of chocolate. Who will guess the answers in Pudding Pictionary or win Chocolate Unicorn? Come hungry! Registration begins March 29 for residents; April 7 for nonresidents.

 

Together Time Tales LogoTogether Time Tales

Who: Families with children age 6 & under
When: Saturday, April 15, 2017
Time: 10-10:30am
Place: Children's Story Room

Enjoy a family-oriented, drop-in storytime that is fun for the whole family. This program is offered the third Saturday of each month through May 2017. No registration required ~ drop in!

Who: Children ages 3-5
When: Mondays from March 20 through May 1, 2017
Time: 1:30-2:15pm
Place: Children's Story Room

This 30-minute drop-in program is offered for children ages 3-5 who are not able to attend the registered session in the morning. Children will enjoy stories, rhymes, flannel board activities and songs that develop pre-reading skills. Children should be comfortable attending without an adult. No registration required.

 

Girl with Teddy BearBedtime Stories

Who: Families with children ages 6 & under
When: Wednesdays from March 22 through May 3, 2017
Time: 6:30-7pm
Place: Children's Story Room

Put on your PJ’s, grab your teddy bear and settle down for a half-hour of stories. No registration needed. Themes:

  • March 29 - Blooming Flowers
  • April 5 ~ It's Windy!
  • April 19 ~ Rain, Rain
  • April 26 ~ Hoppy Frogs
  • May 3 ~ Buggy for Bugs
