Welcome! We are proud to be a part of your child’s literacy and learning experiences. We offer a variety of materials, programs and services for children from birth through grade 6. We strive to encourage and enhance a life-long love of reading and learning. We hope you’ll spend some time browsing our links and reading about all that we have to offer. Most importantly, we hope you will visit us often.

Symbol 1Children 15 months to 5 years of age

Storytimes for children ages 15 months to 5 years will run from January 23 to March 3. Registration is required for the six-week session.

  • Registration forms for Glastonbury residents will be accepted January 5 to January 10. All forms are processed randomly on January 11.
  • Nonresidents may register beginning January 12 if space remains.
Symbol 2Babies birth to 15 months of age

 

Storytimes for babies ages birth to 15 months will run January 24 to February 28. Registration is required.

  • Registration for Glastonbury residents begins January 10, in person or by phone.
  • Nonresidents may register beginning January 19.

Who: Children ages 3-5
When: Mondays from January 23 through February 27, 2017
Time: 1:30-2:15pm
Place: Children's Story Room

This 30-minute drop-in program is offered for children ages 3-5 who are not able to attend the registered session in the morning. Children will enjoy stories, rhymes, flannel board activities and songs that develop pre-reading skills. Children should be comfortable attending without an adult. No registration required.

 

Children Reading at BedtimeBedtime Stories

Who: Families with children ages 6 & under
When: Wednesdays from January 25 through March 1, 2017
Time: 6:30-7pm
Place: Children's Story Room

Put on your PJ’s, grab your teddy bear and settle down for a half-hour of stories. No registration needed. Themes:

  • January 25 ~ Dinosaur Time
  • February 1 ~ Stars and Sky
  • February 8 ~ Let's Create
  • February 15 ~ Sweet Melodies
  • February 22 ~ By the Numbers
  • March 1 ~ Our Green Earth

 

Tinkerlab Light BulbTinkerlab

Who: Children and their adults
When: Friday, January 13, 2017
Time: 10:30am-12noon
Place: Children's Story Room

A place to learn, play, create and explore! Adults must stay and participate with their children. These are drop-in programs ~ no registration is needed.

 

Together Time Tales LogoTogether Time Tales

Who: Families with children age 6 & under
When: Saturday, January 21, 2017
Time: 10-10:30am
Place: Children's Story Room

Enjoy a family-oriented, drop-in storytime that is fun for the whole family. This program is offered the third Saturday of each month through May 2017. No registration required ~ drop in!

Who: Children in grades K-4
When: Friday, January 27, 2017
Time: 4:15-5pm
Place: Children's Story Room

Ring in the Chinese New Year by making sparkly lanterns. Registration begins January 18 for residents; January 22 for nonresidents.

Who: Children in grades 1-6
When: Monday, January 30, 2017
Time: 4:15-5:30pm
Place: Library's Friends Room

Join us for some building fun! Creative kids will listen to a story and be challenged to design their own creation based on the selected theme. Plenty of LEGO® building bricks will be provided. Registration begins January 17 for residents; January 25 for nonresidents.
