Registered Program Descriptions
Mother Goose – Registration Required
Short rhymes, songs, finger plays and books introduce babies to the wonders of language. Parents will enjoy sharing familiar songs and learning new rhymes.
For children ages 15-24 months
One is W-One-derful – Registration Required
This lapsit program introduces children and their parent or caregiver to books, nursery rhymes, finger plays, bounces and songs. Our goal is to foster an early love of books and to remind parents of the importance of reading to their children. Parents and caregivers participate in all activities. In order to devote your full attention to your child, no siblings please.
Side-by-Side – Registration Required
This program is for two-year-olds and their parents or caregivers, who are active participants in the circle games, finger plays, action rhymes, and stories. This program allows a ½ hour of one-on-one sharing with the parent in a group setting. In order to make this a special experience for you and your child, no siblings please.
Smart Start Storytime I – Registration Required
This 30-minute program introduces children to classic picture books and fun stories. Finger rhymes, flannel boards, songs, action rhymes and other related activities are designed to foster pre-reading skills. At least one of the six early literacy skills (print awareness, vocabulary, print motivation, narrative skills, letter knowledge and phonological awareness) is included in each storytime. It is designed as a child’s first experience in a group setting without an adult.
Smart Start Storytime II – Registration Required
In this 30- to 45-minute storytime, we introduce preschoolers to longer, more detailed books. Children are encouraged to participate in finger rhymes, songs and flannel board stories in a group setting without a parent or caregiver present. These storytimes are designed to feature at least one of the six early literacy skills: print awareness, vocabulary, print motivation, narrative skills, letter knowledge and phonological awareness.
